Demonstration post 2 – 13.01.2021

For my project, I have chosen the second topic, of sequential illustrations and text for an 8 page book. Through the pictures I have uploaded below, my trial and error methods on my photography can be seen. I have used manipulation of imagery and manipulation and repetition of typography. I plan on sticking to a minimalistic colour palette for each page in coordination with the image of that specific page. I will be using minimalistic typography styles and creating a lot of line drawings as well. While using the given fonts I will also be using my own handwriting to manipulate the typography on the image. My main focus is to keep a monochromatic colour scheme with the burst of one single colour in every page. I have decided to go with the traditional page layout, with the image on one side and the text on the other. The key moment in my research and idea was when I started editing my pictures and realised the pattern of typography and colour palate I wanted to keep which would also define my entire project. Another important realisation was when I decided that each graphic illustration/image of mine will have a one word description an idea, which will not be related do any other image in the eight page book in anyway .Thus, each illustration and each page will tell its own story.

demonstration post 1 – 02.01.2021

My primary research has been collected over the last few months and is all in the form of photography. It is a very wide range, consisting of different and unconventional photos I have focused on clicking pictures of specific things in my surroundings rather than complete sceneries and I’ve also clicked a lot of candid shots of people from very different perspectives in every shot. My secondary research is all done in paper and pen and I’ve researched on 4 street photographers and one graphic artist I will be taking inspiration from their work while following their style but experimenting on my own as well. I feel that by writing my research I’ve actually been able to apply it while taking pictures as I remembered the points and the style used by the photographers I’ve researched upon. I would like to research and experiment on paper rather than screen in the future as it is more beneficial for me.

Idea to outcome 1

How clearly does each idea communicate?

Each idea communicates very clearly the style and perspective I want to pursue and show my audience. Since the outcome is chosen by me in the style I have strength in I feel my idea will communicate really well..

How feasible is each idea to create in the time you have with the resources available?

I feel that the first idea of manipulating the image with either photoshop or by cut and paste and drawing creatures with my own imagination will take more time than my second idea of creating a storyboard with characters and stories from my imagination. This is because in the first idea I will need a lot of time to edit and different tools and will. also need magazines etc. but in the second one, I will just need my pen, paper, and imagination. Thus the second one will be more feasible.

What do you need to, or learn in order to translate the idea into a successful outcome?

I need to come up with a lot of rough sketches and I need to improve my ability to make one sketch relate to another. I also need to collect a lot of primary research to support my drawings and sketches. I. need. to expand my horizon for imagination and I need to go beyond my comfort zone in order to get an outcome that shows my perspective, style, and originality.

Storyboard

Is my narrative clear? How could it be improved?

My narrative is pretty clear as it is a storyboard of what i do in the morning so all the drawings have been made by either memory or images i have taken in my location. i could improve in my images by showing a better connection between the images and by having a more successful storyboard for animation.

What do i need to refine? How could i do this?

I need to define the relation of one image to another, in other words how one frame leads to another and i also need to refine my drawing by using less lines and by making it look less rough. I can improve on it by drawing story boards of my mundane activities (like i have) or by sing my imagination to come up with a step by step process.

How can I develop this idea for my Location project outcome?

I can develop this idea by creating story boards of my everyday activities, or everyday activities of people around me in my location and y including ideas, images and texts that are being used in my locations and even conversations.

How could I shoot this idea? What do I need to do next?

I could shoot this idea either by recreating the instances and recording it on camera by using the people in my location as the characters or I could create a stop motion animation, which in my perspective is a look alike and inaccurate representation of my location along with made up animated characters.

What ideas did today’s session give you for your Location project?

Today’s session gave me the idea to see all my images from a different point of you after I have edited or manipulated them through my view or my perception of the image. it’s also gave me the idea to completely change or create a new image from photograph I have already taken for my research

How might you alter or manipulate images in the future, and why?

I would alter or manipulate images in the future with either simply editing the photograph I have taken or by layering the same photo with different images of photographs. I would use different techniques such as cotton boost or color scheme changing I would do this to get a completely different, Personal and imaginative view and perspective off my photograph

How could you improve the images you have created?

I would improve the images that I have created by practicing more in the app and in my sketchbook as well to have a better concept of the composition and the idea behind manipulating an image.
